Oak Bay/ Gordon Head candidate

“The motto " vote for independents" is meant to inspire a directive away from leadership driven by agendas and games and put initiative and responsibility back in the citizens court.”

About

A Gordon head resident since 2003 Ryan has been very passionate about building his community. A University of Victoria alumni, Ryan Graduated with a degree in Engineering just a few month before meeting his now wife, Janna. In 2011 Ryan and Janna opened a paint your own pottery studio called Fired Up! Ceramics. A business which allowed Ryan to connect with the people who drive his community. In 2015 and 2016 Ryan and Janna brought two sons in to the world, Garon and Finton who are now very much important to the way that Ryan sees the world.

Ryan has been an active member of the Oak Bay Rotary club since the fall of 2012 where he has participated in events such as the Canadian flag fundraiser, the Mardigras dinner fundraiser and the annual Merrython fun run.

From 2010 until 2018 Ryan facilitated the ball hockey program through the Pearks rec. center and was ended only when the funding was cut to the program. Ryan hopes to be able to re-instate the funding for more staff to be able to reinstate community health initiatives.

As an engineer who has specialized in wire rope work, Ryan is most proud of his work on the Elk Falls suspension bridge, the Couger mountain zip lines in Whistler and his current work in local, responsible agri-food automation.

Ryan’s passions are: inventing just about anything to make the world a better place, reducing his eco. footprint, tending to his urban farm and talking with his friends, family and neighbours and exploring the outdoors. Ryan would like nothing more than to hear from constituents who he would have the honour of representing.
